How to install MongoDB on Mac OS X



In this video we will see How to install MongoDB on Mac OS X. MongoDB is one of the most used, open-source document database, and NoSQL database. MongoDB is developed by 10gen.

$ cd ~/Download
$ tar xzf mongodb-osx-x86_64-2.2.3.tgz
$ sudo mv mongodb-osx-x86_64-2.2.3 /usr/local/mongodb

create MongoDB Data directory 
$ sudo mkdir -p /data/db
$ whoami
codebind
$ sudo chown codebind /data/db

Set mongodb/bin to $PATH
$ cd 
$ pwd
/Users/codebind
$ touch .bash_profile
$ open .bash_profile

export MONGO_PATH=/usr/local/mongodb
export PATH=$PATH:$MONGO_PATH/bin
